We require a Marine Fitter to maintain a fleet of GRP Pilot and Patrol vessels in Southampton.
Working part of a small team. Accountabilities:
• To engage with a with a small dedicated team of marine engine fitters, maintaining and repairing all aspects of mechanical/electrical machinery, components and their associated systems, both powered and hand operated.
• To clean and paint compartments and areas of the vessels as required.
• To work alone and off site carrying out maintenance and repairs
• Maintain and build good working relationships with the customer.
•Be willing to work as a rostered call out fitter if required
• To carry out any duties agreed to be reasonable over and above standard duties Skills & Attitude Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Good diagnostic abilities Full UK driving license Ability to use own initiative Willing to work flexible hours as and when required and be willing to work as a rostered call out fitter if required. Willing to work alone or part of a team Required Experience: Knowledge and experience in working with twin marine diesel engines, hydraulic steering systems, domestic toilet and wash arrangements and pumping systems (e.g. bilge / fire). Main propulsion installations. (Generator sets an advantage but not essential)
